The story

What came out of the box

Pandora Gunn is the music of Bridggett Bess: a Frankfurt-born army brat who found her voice singing in German night clubs, then carried it through New York and California. A theatre-trained storyteller, she writes every song as a short story with a beginning, a middle, an end and a character at its centre.

“I am not sure if my music fits in any particular box, but I hope it provides people with an alternate safe world to escape, dream and reflect.”
Pandora Gunn
  1. The beginning

    Born in Frankfurt

An army brat born in Frankfurt, Germany, raised all over the world with art as the constant. Her first creative award came as a child, at an all-European arts competition in Wiesbaden.

  2. College

    The Kennedy Center stage

At North Carolina A&T State University she wins the Irene Ryan award for Best Actress in her region and plays the lead in David Richmond, the winning production, at the Kennedy Center.

  3. After college

    A singer by necessity

Turned away at the UK border with a one-way ticket, she lands in Germany instead. With few English-speaking acting roles, she sings: night clubs first, then Kammgarn in Kaiserslautern alongside Brandon Perkins of the Brandon Project.

  4. New York

    Pandi opens the box

In New York she co-creates Pandi, a modern twist on Pandora's Box. The film screens at the Coney Island Film Festival and at the CBGB gallery.

  5. 2007

    The demo disc

A demo of live performance videos and vocal recordings goes out to bookers. One of the songs on it is an early Bumpy Ride.

  6. October 2007

On stage with the Jack Willis Band

A pub show at Bud's with the Jack Willis Band: Hotel California, Pride & Joy, Summer of '69, Bad Moon Rising.

  7. Around 2010

    Hip Service

She sings with cover band Hip Service, working a set list that runs from Chaka Khan and Prince to Lady Gaga.
